SRINAGAR: Panic gripped SKIMS when a fire was reported in War No 3P on Thursday evening. The fire tenders quickly rushed and douse the flames.
The ward 3P is a dialysis centre.
People who witnessed the incident said panic was there but the fire was quickly managed. It is a major hospital where more than 1000 people are admitted and continues to be a key counter Covid facility
Efforts to get the official version of the report failed because all the executives had their cell numbers busy. One official in the Divisional Administration said the fire broke out in the storeroom of 3P and it was controlled. He said it was quickly managed and not even a single patient required any evacuation. Investigations into the fire are likely to start soon.
“Fire has been controlled,” one senior official of the SKIMS said. “We have instituted an enquiry into the incident.”
An official spokesman later in the night said the “minor fire” incident was because of a “short circuit” in the Ward 3p storeroom. “No major damage was done, every service was restored immediately. Everybody including staff and patients are safe,” the spokesman adding the hemodialysis unit suffered no damage at all.
