SRINAGAR:  Police have arrested an accused of raping a minor girl in Uri town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The accused who is over 19 years old and identified as  Nazim Hussain Kataria abducted a 10-year-old girl and tarnished her chastity in a tin shed inside the forest.

Station House Officer, Police Station Uri, Muhammad Ashraf Paul told news agency KNT that one Muhammed Azad Katariya son of Muhammed  Akbar Katariya of Navarounda village reported at the police station that his daughter aged about 10 years (name with held) was kidnapped and raped by one person namely Nazim Hussian Katariya son of Lateef Katariya of Navarounda at an abandoned tin shed in a jungle.

He said after receiving the complaint, the accused was arrested while after conducting medico-legal formalities victim was handed over to parents.

“In this regard, a case vide FIR number 151/2020 under section 363,376 IPC, 3/4 POCSO was registered at police station Uri,” he said.
