Srinagar: In a tragic incident, two minor siblings drowned in a stream at Rafiabad in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.
Reports said that Mohammad Ashraf Najar, 12, son of Mohammad Iqbal Najar while trying to save his eight-year-old sister Seerat Jan slipped into the Nallah at upper reaches of Shalkote area of Rafiabad.
Ashraf tried to rescue his sister from drowning, however, both drowned, they said.
Soon after the incident, locals and police reached the spot and retrieved the body of Ashraf while searches are on to retrieve the body of another.
SSP Sopore Javid Iqbal while confirming the tragic deaths told news agency GNS that rescue teams have so far retrieved the body of Ashraf while efforts are on to fish out the girl’s body.
