Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Saturday called upon the youth of valley to work towards economic independence by utilizing the present resources and opportunities in Kashmir instead of wasting time and energy in finding work in offices and government departments.

While inaugurating UR Jewelers at Kadi Kadal in Shehre-Khaas, Mirwaiz said once this historic old city was the centre of commerce and trade. He, however, said that due to deliberate neglect and wrong policies of the government, the city was losing its name for which it was famous world over.

Mirwaiz said there was no dearth of resources in Kashmir for economical purposes, but it was important that such resources should be utilized for the betterment of the youth. He said the youth should be encouraged to start their own businesses and work, adding, in that regard, business fraternity has to play its role.

Paying tributes to UR jewelers for starting the new business, the APHC Chairman said this effort is again step towards economical independence of Kashmiris. He said such enterprises open employment opportunities for the young generation of valley.
