Srinagar: Hurriyat (m) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and his media advisor Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam have been placed under house arrest to prevent them from taking part in a programme announced by the joint resistance leadership.
A spokesperson of the amalgam said that both Mirwaiz and Shahid were placed under detention at their respective homes.
The joint resistance leadership has called for protests today on Friday after congregational prayers against the killing of a minor girl in Kupwara during a gunfight on Wednesday.
