Appealing International Court of Justice (ICJ) to deliver justice to those who have been forcefully subjected to disappearance, Chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umer Farooq Friday said that Kashmiris visiting other states are being implicated in false cases. He has appealed United Nations, OIC, Asia Watch, ICRC and Amnesty International to raise their voice ‘against the suppression being committed against people in Valley’. Mirwaiz

Expressing resentment over silence of international community over ‘suppression’ in Valley, Mirwaiz alleged that over last two decades, people are being involved in fake cases and Kashmiri jail inmates are being harassed. “Latief Ahmad Waza, Mirza Nisar Hussain, Mehmood Ali, Er. Farooq Ahmad Khan, Abdul Gani Goni and Javaid Ahmad Khan were given clean chit by Supreme Court but are still behind the bars. Some days ago they were ruthlessly beaten by jail authorities and we strongly condemn this act”, reads a statement issued here.

Hurriyat Chairman has said that reaction to the hanging of Afzal Guru’s execution was natural ‘but the way India exploited the situation to suppress the people of Kashmir is writing on wall’.

He appealed international court of justice to intervene in matter of enforced disappearances and unmarked graves “as after Guru’s execution people have lost faith in Indian courts”.

“We have apprehensions that the disappeared persons might have been murdered and buried in these graves”.

He accused India of violating Geneva Convention and said that its civil society and human right activists under the shadow of national interest are maintaining silence over these issues. He demanded immediate release of Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Ashiq Hussain Faktoo, Mushtaqul Islam and Masarat Aalam Bhat and other resistance leaders.
