Reacting to a recent tweet by Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan where he condemned the Kashmir killings, Senior separatist leader and Hurriyat (M) chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday appreciated the concern expressed by Khan on Kashmir situation.

Taking to a social networking site Twitter, Mirwaiz wrote: “People of #Kashmir appreciate Pakistan’s concern, but to put an end to the appalling grind of repression and human right abuse that Kashmiri’s are suffering at the hands of Indian state urgently requires #Pakistan as a party to the dispute to do much more.”

Khan had tweeted today expressing his serious concern and condemned the killings of “innocent Kashmiris.”

Mirwaiz also urged India to resolve the Kashmir dispute through dialogue in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people. “Strongly condemn the new cycle of killings of innocent Kashmiris in IOK by Indian security forces. It is time India realised it must move to resolve the Kashmir dispute through dialogue in accordance with the UN SC resolutions & the wishes of the Kashmiri people(sic),” Khan wrote on his twitter handle.

Pertinently, seven civilians and three militants were killed and dozens sustained injuries in Laroo village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on October 21, 2018.
