SRINAGAR: Hurriyat (m) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed his grief and sorrow over killings in Qazigund shootout and extended his condolences with the bereaved families. Mirwaiz said that loss of life in every situation is highly regrettable and people of Kashmir continue to suffer and pay with their lives as the Kashmir dispute is not being resolved as per the will of the people of Kashmir. Mirwaiz prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Mirwaiz Strongly denounced the Governmnet decision to ban religious and news channels and said the state was not only muzzling the voice of the people through brute force but also trying to block all information and communication both ways as it does not want the reality of Kashmir to be highlighted internationally and does not want people of Kashmir to have access to information other than what Delhi filters into Kashmir through its state and cooperate run biased media.

Apart from discussing the ongoing deteriorating situation, growing human rights violations, state sponsored terrorism and assault on students, the meeting gave final shape to the programme to commerate Hafta-e-Shadat(Martyrdom week) the 28th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Farooq and 62 martyrs of Hawal massacre.

Paying rich tributes to the founding father of AAC, Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Farooq, Hawal martyrs and all the martyrs of Kashmir for sacrificing their lives for the better tomorrow of Kashmir, the participants stated that the mission for which Shaheed-e-Millat laid the foundation of AAC will be taken to forward at any cost.

Mirwaiz stated that the joint resistance leadership will observe May 21, the martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed-e-Millat, Shaheed Hurriyat and Hawal martys, as the day of Youme-e-Tajdeed and will pledge to remain steadfast and commit to take the mission of the martyrs forward till it reaches its goal of freedom.

Mirwaiz stated that Kashmir struggle was at a crucial juncture. He said Kashmiri students were being subjected to state sponsored terrorism, resistance leadership, workers, activists, and Kashmiri youth are being harassed and the state was leaving no stone unturned to push the people, especially youth, towards the wall.  As such, he said it was the need of the hour that we stand firm and united against the oppressor.

Mirwaiz said that our religious, human and political rights are being  usurped by the state but it  has failed to break the will of people. Mirwaiz said that international community especially US, Turkey, Iran, China and UN have already shown concern viz a viz the situation here and asked India and Pakistan to address the Kashmir dispute.
