He said the blessed birth of the Prophet (PBUH) gave new life and direction to humanity, and his life-giving and thought-provoking teachings transformed human life for all time.

He urged Muslims to sincerely commit to following the exemplary life of the Prophet (PBUH) so that humanity, as well as the nation and community, can overcome the severe crises faced by Muslims globally and locally.

Meanwhile, Mirwaiz expressed surprise at KK administration’s decision to shift the official holiday for Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) from September 17 to September 16.

“As Milad is on Tuesday, the state holiday should have been observed on that day. This action shows the authorities’ disregard for the Muslim community and has hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims in Kashmir,” he said in a  statement.

Mirwaiz said it is unfortunate that those governing us today are ignorant of our religious and cultural traditions and have little interest in understanding or showing respect for them.
