Hurriyat (M) chairman and the patron of Muttahida Majlis-Ulema Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Saturday paid glowing tributes to the two important personalities of Islamic history Hazrat Imam-e Azam Abu Haneefa (RA) and Hakeemul Umat Alama Muhammad Iqbal (RA) on their passing away anniversaries stating the contributions of these great and pious souls can never be forgotten.

The spokesman said while calling the contributions of Imam Abu Haneefa toward Fiqah and Islamic jurisprudence as a shining light for the generations to come, he said Imam Azam spent his entire life making efforts for the understanding of religion to the common masses easy and gave him the credit for the clarity of thought on Fiqah and religion today. Mirwaiz said that Imam Abu Hanifa (RA) was the first of the Imams to advocate the use of “reason” in the consideration of religious questions based on the Qur’an and Sunnah.

Paying  tributes to the great philosopher, thinker and poet of the East,  Muhammad Allama Iqbal, on his 80th death anniversary, Mirwaiz said “Allama has not only a distinguished status among the poets and philosophers of his time but his poetry is of cosmic nature stressing on the  concept of self-belief (Khud atemadi)as well as belief on the divine (khuda ateemadi). His poetry has played a guiding role for the whole Ummah.”

Mirwaiz said that Iqbal was the sympathiser of people of the subcontinent as is reflected in his poetry. Mirwaiz said Iqbal’s poetry also reflects his deep love and devotion to the beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
