SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday said he had been under house detention for the past week, alleging that police personnel and barricades continued to restrict movement outside his residence.
In a post on X, Mirwaiz said the restrictions had prevented him from delivering the weekly Friday sermon at the historic Jama Masjid in Srinagar, expressing regret over his absence.
He described the restrictions as arbitrary and authoritarian, questioning the claims of normalcy in Kashmir.
Mirwaiz argued that curbs on freedom of movement and expression were inconsistent with the official narrative of normalcy in the region.
