Hurriyat leader and cleric Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, who was released from detention on Monday, tweeted for the first time since August 25, 2016.

“From a Small Jail in isolation to a big jail with my nation: the journey to freedom continues. Inshallah together we will overcome”, Mirwaiz wrote in his comeback tweet, full of optimism.

Mirwaiz was arrested on August 26 the day when he tried to march towards Srinagar’s historic Eidgah to hold and address a pro-freedom rally.

Mirwaiz, who joined twitter in May 2014, has an active presence on twitter with over 27k followers on twitter. His last tweet before Mirwaiz was arrested on August 25, he had recalled the infamous 1989 operation of historic Jamia Masjid.

Notably, Mirwaiz warned today that he will defy restrictions if authorities continue imposing ban on Friday congregational prayer.

Mirwaiz’s tweet was responded by greetings and welcome from his followers. However, there was a threatening tweet as well. “@MirwaizKashmir Small jail to Big Jail then to the location of 72 Hoors standing for ur welcome….Great life…Great change,” he got one response from Rajesh pandey (‏@Rajesh2315553).

The cleric who has lost his father to a militant attack is one of the most secured separatists in Kashmir.
