SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Saturday expressed profound shock over the deaths caused by the accidental explosion at Nowgam Police Station, calling for a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the incident.
In a statement on X, the Hurriyat leader said the tragic loss of lives had left everyone “shocked and deeply saddened” and emphasised the need to determine how such a large quantity of explosive material was handled with “apparent negligence,” leading to the devastating blast.

He urged that accountability be fixed and that the findings of the investigation be made fully public. Mirwaiz also extended his prayers for the deceased, expressed solidarity with the affected families, and wished a speedy recovery for the injured, stating that his thoughts were with all those impacted by the tragedy.
