SRINAGAR: Intense shelling from across the Line of Control (LoC) by Pakistani forces has triggered panic and caused significant damage in the border areas of Poonch district. The recent cross-border firing has left several civilians injured, damaged numerous homes, and killed livestock, prompting urgent relief and rescue operations.
In response, the local administration has swiftly relocated residents from vulnerable areas near the LoC to safer shelters. Demonstrating solidarity with the affected population, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Haveli constituency, Ajaz Jan, visited the impacted areas and temporary relief camps to meet with displaced families.
During his visit, Jan distributed essential supplies, including food and daily necessities, to those affected. He assured the victims that the Jammu and Kashmir government stands firmly with them and remains committed to their safety, rehabilitation, and overall well-being.
Speaking to the media, MLA Ajaz Jan emphasised that the government is closely monitoring the situation along the border and is taking all necessary steps to ensure civilian safety. He also stated that adequate compensation would be provided to families whose homes were damaged or destroyed, enabling them to rebuild and resume normal life.
District authorities, security forces, and local representatives continue to stay on high alert to safeguard residents and maintain peace in the region.
