SRINAGAR: Budgam MLA Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi has written to External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar urging the Government of India to urgently facilitate the evacuation of students and pilgrims currently stranded in Iran amid the ongoing conflict and uncertainty.
In his letter, Mehdi requested the Centre to arrange safe transportation for the affected individuals and provide air tickets to ensure their return without placing an additional financial burden on their families.
He said many of the students and pilgrims are unable to arrange travel due to disruptions in banking services and growing uncertainty in the region.
The Budgam legislator appealed to the Ministry of External Affairs to intervene swiftly and coordinate their evacuation so they can return home safely at the earliest.
