According to a notice issued by the JK Legislative Assembly Secretariat on July 31, Para has been directed to appear before the committee at 3 pm on August 6 at the Committee Meeting Hall of the Assembly Secretariat in Srinagar and tender his evidence in the matter.

The alleged breach of privilege was referred to the committee by the Speaker for examination, investigation and submission of a report. The committee, headed by Justice (Retd.) Hasnain Masoodi, decided at its meeting on July 24 to record Para’s evidence.

The complaint was filed by National Conference MLA Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, who accused Para of making derogatory remarks and levelling false allegations during a speech in the Assembly on November 8, 2024.

Para had initially denied the allegations and described the notice as an attempt to silence dissent. His explanation was subsequently considered insufficient by the Speaker, following which the matter was referred to the Privileges Committee.

The latest notice, issued by Under Secretary Shabir Ahmad Wani, formally requires Para to appear before the committee and present his evidence as part of the proceedings.
