SRINAGAR: Members of the Legislative Assembly on Saturday questioned the alleged allotment of land to a Sri Lankan cricketer in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the Question Hour, CPI(M) MLA Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami said that land in Kathua had been allotted to a Sri Lankan cricketer.
“How was this allotment made?” he asked. However, Tarigami did not disclose the name of the cricketer.
Congress MLA Ghulam Ahmad Mir also questioned how a non-Indian cricketer was allotted land in JK.
“This is a serious matter and needs to be investigated,” he said.
Responding to the concerns raised by MLAs, Minister for Agriculture Production Department Javaid Ahmad Dar said the issue falls under the jurisdiction of the Revenue Department.
“This matter needs to be looked into,” he added. (KNO)
