SRINAGAR: In tribute to the legacy of Late Muhammad Shafi Pandit, an ardent advocate for the welfare of the elderly, Moul Mouj Foundation (MMF) and Help Foundation (HF) have joined forces to launch a new initiative to bolster respiratory health and mobility support for senior citizens. With winter approaching, this collaboration provides critical resources to help seniors manage chronic health conditions from the safety and comfort of their homes.
Cold weather poses heightened risks for seniors, especially those with respiratory and heart conditions, as well as limited mobility. Through this initiative, MMF and HF are supplying a comprehensive selection of medical equipment designed to alleviate these seasonal challenges, including oxygen concentrators, BiPAP machines, nebulisers, patient beds, and wheelchairs. This partnership aims to ease pressures on both caregivers and the healthcare system by reducing unnecessary hospital visits.
The equipment provided as part of the initiative includes:
Oxygen Concentrators: Vital for those with chronic respiratory and heart conditions, these devices deliver continuous oxygen to improve comfort and reduce breathlessness.
BiPAP Machines: Ideal for patients with severe respiratory issues or sleep apnoea, BiPAP machines aid breathing at night, enhancing sleep quality and overall well-being.
Nebulisers: Essential for direct medication delivery to the lungs, nebulisers provide quick relief from respiratory symptoms, supporting seniors with fast-acting care.
Patient Beds: Adjustable beds designed for seniors with limited mobility, chronic pain, or the need for frequent repositioning.
Wheelchairs: Providing safe mobility and independence, wheelchairs are crucial for both mental and physical health, reducing the risk of falls.
In addition to the in-home medical equipment, the programme offers access to a critical care ambulance service, equipped with an experienced team of paramedics for safe transfers within and beyond Jammu and Kashmir. The ambulance will ensure specialised medical transportation to facilities in major cities such as Delhi, supporting seniors who require advanced care.
“This collaboration signifies our united commitment to honouring Mr. Pandit’s vision and addressing the specific health needs of seniors as they face the challenges of winter,” said Mrs Nighat Shafi Pandit, Chairperson of Help Foundation. “We are proud to bring essential support to our elderly community and ensure that no senior faces the season without the care they need.”
Seniors and their caregivers interested in accessing the equipment or ambulance services can call MMF’s toll-free line at 1800-203-0337 for eligibility details and availability. This initiative aims to uphold the legacy of Muhammad Shafi Pandit and provide the elderly with the support they need to maintain their health, comfort, and dignity during the winter months.
