SRINAGAR: Mobile Internet services were snapped in Kashmir on Tuesday in view of Republic-Day functions.

An official said that mobile Internet service of all cellular companies was suspended in Kashmir on Monday late night as a precautionary measure to avert any untoward incident on R-Day.

The broadband services, however, were not affected due to these curbs.

Although, it is a normal practice in Kashmir to suspend internet services on August 15 and January  26.

Government forces have been deployed in strength at strategic locations in Srinagar. Law enforcing agencies are carrying out random frisking and searches of vehicles entering the city.
