According to an official statement, the Mobile Passport Van will be stationed at the Tourist Facilitation Centre, Bemathang, Kargil, enabling residents of Kargil and adjoining areas to avail passport-related services without travelling long distances.

Applicants intending to use the facility must book appointments through the official Passport Seva portal and select the “Passport Van” option while choosing an appointment slot for the designated dates.

The initiative forms part of the Ministry of External Affairs’ efforts to improve the reach of citizen services in far-flung and underserved areas through mobile service delivery mechanisms.

Passport Officer Srinagar, BS Rawat, said the Mobile Passport Van Service reflects the Government of India’s commitment to making passport services more accessible, transparent and convenient for people living in remote regions.

Officials advised applicants to report to the designated venue at their scheduled appointment time. Assistance will also be available through the Mobile Passport Van team during the service period.

The Passport Seva Project has been introducing mobile passport facilities in various regions to strengthen service delivery and reduce barriers to access for applicants residing in distant areas.
