Castigating authorities for not initiating any action against a ‘corrupt’ official, aspirants in large numbers Thursday staged a massive protest against Chief Education Officer Budgam Nazir Ahmed Dar and alleged that the said officer received money in lieu of class IV appointments in the district.

The candidates assembled at Media hub in Srinagar and raised slogans against the ‘tainted’ officer.

The protestors said that the then Director had assured them probe against the ‘tainted official’ would be initiated in a week’s time, but a month has passed and still no action has been taken against him. “It is the mockery of justice that, the present Director has appointed his Personal Officer to look into the matter and the said Personal Officer is himself involved in the fraud,” they said.

They said that for the provisional selection of the candidates, a five member committee was constituted in which the CEO Budgam Nazir Ahmed Dar was appointed as Chairman of the said recruitment committee despite the fact various aspirants for the said post were his close relatives.

“The norms have been thrown to the wind while filling the class IV posts in the education department. I have secured 85 percent marks in Matric and 80 percent in 12th class but failed to find my name in the final list. Instead, many candidates have made it to the final list whose percentage is far below than me,” an aspirant told.

It is pertinent to mention here that the office of Chief Education Officer, Budgam had issued a notification wide number CEOB/NT/ADVER/14-99349 dated 5/2/2014 inviting applications from the eligible candidate for filling the class IV posts.

Some dropped candidates said that the process of filling of the vacancies consumed too much of time. When the candidates made hue and cry against the delay in the publication of the list the CEO was left with no choice, but to come out with the list, said these candidates.

“We have come to know that the CEO was about to handover the appoint letters without publishing the list. We pursued very hard and got the list published but to our utter disappointment despite having the top merit,” said a protesting candidate.

The protesting aspirants said that the finalization of the ‘fraud’ selection list has been prepared by keeping the two key members of the constituted committee in dark. They demanded action against the ‘tainted’ CEO and appealed authorities to take necessary action so that justice could be delivered to the deserved left out candidates.

Pertinently, Vigilance Organization Kashmir has already registered a corruption case against the ‘tainted’ Chief Education Officer Budgam.
