SRINAGAR: Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) candidate for Udhampur -Doda Lok Sabha seat Dr Jitendra Singh has said that 10 years of Modi government has united people and has put an end to the divisive policy of previous regimes.

“We have tried to put an end to this divisive politics in erstwhile district Doda which Congress party has done in the past to rule the area. They had brought Hindus and Muslims on loggerheads just to get votes,” Singh told media persons at Khelani area of Doda District on Sunday evening, where BJP workers welcomed him while he was on his way towards Kishtwar district.

Dr Jitendra Singh said that BJP has put an end to this culture. “Modi government has worked for all communities and didn’t differentiate between Hindus and Muslims and whether we got votes from the area or nothing,” he said and gave examples of alloting a degree college at Kastigarh and new alignment of national highway 244 from Khelani towards Sudh mahadev via Marmat.

When asked how he thinks about the contest on this seat, the BJP candidate said, “I don’t feel there is any sort of contest. Even the women of the families of other contesting candidates will be voting for BJP in these elections,” he added.

He thanked people of Khelani for welcoming him and reminded that he should be the host as his ancestral house falls in Khelani block and he has the State Subject from Khilota village of this block.(KNO)
