SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Vice President and former MLC G N Monga on Tuesday asked the authorities to end the house arrest of senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz without any further delay.

In a statement issued to press from here, he said, “Soz sahib was put under house arrest after the Centre abrogated Article 370 last August. The house arrest has been made without providing a single document.”

Seeking forthwith release of Prof Soz, the JKPCC Vice-President said, “Almost a year has passed since his house detention, he is yet to be informed of his grounds of detention.”

“Soz sahib has been re-elected numerous times for the Lok Sabha and also served as Union Minister besides being the President of the JKPCC for a long time. His house detention is not only illegal, mala-fide and unconstitutional but also extremely appalling. He should be released without any further delay along with all the political leaders and activists detained since last August,” he demanded.
