Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Vice President and former MLC G N Monga on Wednesday urged the Governor Administration to look into the genuine demands put forward by transporters of the state, who have gone on a one-day strike to press for their demands.

In a statement issued here, he said the transport industry has suffered huge losses in recent years and levying heavy toll tax and asking them to install hi-tech systems in their vehicles will put them under the further burden.

“The transporters have been asked to Install hi-tech gadgets in each vehicle and would cost them a lot of money. One-way toll charges of Rs 285 for an inter-district bus on the highway is another burden. The Government must look into these grievances and find a solution to the problems of the transporters immediately,” the Congress leader said.

He also said the long pending demand of transporters which include speedy renewals and document verification with the transport department, must be fulfilled by the Government immediately.

He extended full support to the transport industry and urged Governor Administration to look into the genuine demands of the ailing transport sector without any delay.
