MoP Allocates 870 MW Additional Winter Power to Jammu Kashmir, Ladakh

   

SRINAGAR: With the onset of winter, the Ministry of Power (MoP) has allocated over 870 Megawatts (MWs) of power for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh from the unallocated quota of Central Generating Stations (CGSs) of the northern region.

Official documents reveal that the MoP has ordered the concerned authorities to execute the share of 44 per cent (877.42 MWs) unallocated quota of CGSs to Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh with effect from October 01.

The MoP, in the allocation percentage for winter months for the year 2025-26, has said that of the total unallocated quota of CGSs of the northern region, Jammu and Kashmir is receiving 44 per cent for October 2025, 49 per cent for November 2025, 54 per cent from December 2025 to February 2026, and 44 per cent for March 2026 respectively.

“Central Electricity has revised the allocation of power from the unallocated quota of CGSs of the northern region, keeping in view the change in the requirement of power of northern states with the onset of the winter season and requested NRPC to implement the allocation after accounting for specific allocations with effect from 01.10.2025,” the MoP said.

In addition, the MoP said that Jammu and Kashmir is receiving a specific allocation of 41 MW from RAPS-C and 36 MW (unallocated share of 15 percent from Uri–II) to Jammu and Kashmir for the winter months every year, respectively.

Stating the bifurcation of the remaining unallocated pool of 1790.66 MW excluding RAPP-B, the MoP has said that Jammu and Kashmir is receiving 1056.49 MWs with effect from December 1 till February 28, 2026, or as modified otherwise. (KNO)
