As Kashmir valley is observing shutdown after the killing of militant commander Sabzar Bhat, his aide and a civilian, army said that more than one thousand candidates appeared for selection Indian Army Junior Commissioned Officers and other ranks was held at Srinagar and Pattan.

Reports quoting army spokesperson said that out of 815 candidates who had applied for junior commissioned officers post 799 appeared for the test at Pattan.

Army also said that out of 500, 493 appeared candidates appeared at Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre in Srinagar.

“Candidates defying shutdown call and choosing their future is a clear message,” said an army spokesperson.
