APHC Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Saturday laid the foundation stone of Koukar Masjid in Malratta, Old city.
Asserting that Masjids should be made into centre of learning, Mirwaiz stressed upon the Imams and Muslim scholars to help in bringing radical social reforms in the society to end the needles rituals and extravaganza.
As per a local news agency, KNS, later the residents of Malaratta informed Mirwaiz about the ‘terror unleashed’ by the police and CRPF in the area. The inhabitants said, “Their wards were taken into custody for raising the voice for justice.” They further explained that “youth were targeted and unnecessarily harassed for taking part in the peaceful demonstrations.”
The residents stressed that “government was itself doing everything to make the situation worse and mask their misdoings beneath the cloak of oppression.”
