A lady, along with her two children were injured as India and Pakistan troops continued shelling at Mankote area of Poonch district of Jammu on Saturday.

A police officer told news agency GNS that Pakistan Army in violation of ceasefire attacked Indian Army’s posts in Mankote as a result of which some shells landed in residential areas.

In the incident, a lady identified as Zarina wife of Mohd Shabir along with her two children Azad Ahmad, Zahida Khatoon of Ghani village in Mankote received injuries, he said.

The injured were taken to SDH Mendhar for treatment and where their condition is said to stable, BMO Mendhar Dr Parvaiz Khan said.

On Friday evening, three members of a family including mother along with her two kids died and two others injured when a shell hit their house at Salotri in Krishna Ghati sector.

Meanwhile, a teenager was killed and three other civilians injured in Pakistan Administered Kashmir after armies of both India and Pakistan exchange fire along LoC, reported Dawn.

Quoting an official Dawn newspaper said that the casualties occurred in Kotli district where the LoC was calm since the morning but became “hot” in the afternoon after Indian troops resorted to heavy mortar and artillery shelling.

“The shelling was so intense that two to three mortar shells also fell in the main market of tehsil headquarters Nakyal,” Dawn quoted Dr Umer Azam, the deputy commissioner of Kotli as having said.
