SRINAGAR: A gas cylinder explosion claimed the lives of a mother and her one-year-old child in the remote Jandrola area of Block Sathra, Tehsil Mandi, Poonch district, on Tuesday.
An official said that the incident occurred while the mother, Shazia Akhtar, was working in the kitchen. The sudden explosion resulted in the on-the-spot deaths of Shazia, 28, and her child.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the explosion. (JKNS)
