Mother, Son Die Hours Apart on Eid Eve in Handwara

   

SRINAGAR: What was meant to be a joyous Eid celebration turned into an unimaginable tragedy for a family in Kulangam, Handwara, as a mother and son passed away just hours apart, leaving the entire village in shock and grief.

According to reports, on the eve of Eid, 27-year-old Mushtaq Ahmad Wani went to Handwara market, a few kilometres from his village, to buy essentials for Eid. However, upon reaching the market, he suffered a sudden heart attack and was immediately rushed to the Associated Hospital, GMC Handwara.

The devastating news of Mushtaq’s condition proved unbearable for his mother, who collapsed at home and died on the spot due to a heart attack. Meanwhile, Mushtaq was referred to a hospital in Srinagar for advanced treatment, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The twin tragedies have sent shockwaves throughout the entire area. Local residents recalled that just a month ago, Mushtaq’s father had also passed away, adding to the family’s misfortunes. Mushtaq is survived by his wife and two young children, who now face an uncertain future.
