A women allegedly set herself ablaze at Hill Pathri Gund area of Kangan on Thursday afternoon. She is admitted in SKIMS hospital where she is battling for her life.
The woman, identified as Zamrooda Banoo, 35, is critical and has sustained more than 95 percent burn injuries.
Zamrooda, wife of Shabir Ahmed Khan, a resident of Razai Kadal in Srinagar, travelled to Kangan, some 20 kilometres from her residence, and set herself ablaze there.
As per the family, Zamrooda, who hail from Srigufwara, Islamabad, had a dispute with her husband since last one year and they used to fight almost every other day.
SDPO Kangan while talking to Kashmir life on phone said, “According to initial reports Zamrooda had a dispute with her husband that led her to attempt suicide.”
In this regard police station Kangan has registered a case and further investigation is going on, he added.
