MoU Signed Between Baramulla Administration, NHPC for Model Border Villages Project

   

SRINAGAR: The District Development Commissioner of Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NHPC to implement the “Creation of 5 Model Border Villages” project under NHPC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The signing ceremony, held in Baramulla, was attended by Chief Planning Officer Javed Ahmad and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Uri, Javed Ahmad Rather.

The Rs 2.5 crore initiative is designed to upgrade essential infrastructure in border villages, with Rs 1 crore allocated for the financial year 2024-25. The project encompasses the improvement of schools, health centres, Anganwadi centres, sanitation facilities, centralized housing quarters, and the installation of transformers to ensure better electricity access.

Set for completion within eight months, the project timeline allows for extensions if necessary, contingent upon valid justification. The District Administration Baramulla will oversee the timely and efficient execution of the project, ensuring the targeted outcomes are achieved.

Speaking at the event, DC Baramulla Minga Sherpa highlighted the transformative potential of such initiatives. “This project will empower rural communities by providing them with enhanced infrastructure and improved living standards. We deeply appreciate NHPC’s commitment to community welfare through their CSR efforts,” he remarked.
