You may be surprised but it is true that some Kashmiri students on their mission to make Mozilla Firefox browser ‘read and write’ in Kashmiri.

‘Mozilla Community’ J&K conducted a two-day event, from 5th to 6th of June at SP College, Srinagar, aimed at translating Mozilla Firefox Browser into Kashmiri language.

According to organizers, the event was first of its kind in J&K to promote, preserve and globalize Kashmiri language.

“A number of students from various colleges of Srinagar took part in the event as translators. More than 6000 lines were rendered into Kashmiri language. Moreover, there were sessions on Mozilla products, online security and privacy,” the statement informed.

“Director CRDP, Dr Suhail Masoodi, who was also present in the event, highly acclaimed this initiative of globalizing Kashmiri language and encouraged the students who took part in it.”

The event was organized in collaboration with SP College, Srinagar, Center for Research and Development Policy (CRDP) and Innovate Me, the statement added.
