SRINAGAR: The Delhi High Court on Monday granted interim bail to Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid to enable him to attend the funeral rites of his father, Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, who passed away late on Sunday night.
Following the death, the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) had urged the authorities to allow the incarcerated MP to attend the last rites on humanitarian grounds.
Engineer Rashid has been lodged in Tihar Jail since 2019 after his arrest by the National Investigation Agency in connection with a 2017 terror-funding case.
