SRINAGAR: National Conference Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmad escaped unhurt after his official vehicle was caught in a landslide on the Jammu-Poonch highway on Wednesday while he was travelling to inspect areas affected by recent heavy rain and flash floods.
Reports said the landslide struck a stretch of the highway, leaving the MP’s vehicle stranded. Mian Altaf safely exited the vehicle, and no injuries were reported in the incident.
Despite the disruption, the MP continued towards the flood-hit area on foot to assess the situation and interact with affected residents.
Mian Altaf was on his way to review the impact of the recent spell of heavy rainfall, which has triggered flash floods and caused damage to infrastructure and property in parts of the region.
Meanwhile, officials said intermittent landslides continue to pose a threat along the Jammu-Poonch highway due to persistent rainfall, and the situation is being closely monitored.
