SRINAGAR: Member of Parliament from the Anantnag–Rajouri constituency, Mian Altaf Ahmad, on Tuesday welcomed the announcement by Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw regarding the Jammu–Rajouri railway line project.
In a statement, Mian Altaf said the Railways Minister had informed that work on the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Jammu–Rajouri rail line is progressing rapidly. He said the issue had been taken up with the Central Government over the past two years and was raised on several occasions during meetings with the Union Railways Minister, who had assured progress on the project.
The MP expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for considering and addressing the long-standing demand for the railway line.
According to the statement, the Jammu–Rajouri rail project is expected to improve connectivity in the region and promote development, tourism and employment. The project has been a long-pending demand of local residents and has been welcomed by people in the area.
