SRINAGAR: Member of Parliament from Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, on Friday chaired a review meeting in Ganderbal to assess healthcare services and ongoing development works at District Hospital Ganderbal.

The meeting conducted a comprehensive review of the implementation of government health schemes. The Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Ganderbal, presented a detailed report on the hospital’s performance, achievements, and ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening patient care.
The MP appreciated the efforts of the hospital administration and staff for their dedication and professionalism in delivering healthcare services and noted visible improvements in facilities. He urged the hospital team to further enhance service delivery to ensure quality healthcare for the public.
He informed that most demands raised by the hospital for equipment and infrastructure upgrades have been approved. He said one CT scan machine has already been installed and inaugurated, while another is proposed for Budgam. He also stated that a proposal has been submitted to the Government of India for MRI machines to strengthen diagnostic services.
Emphasising the need for self-sufficiency in healthcare, the MP said local health institutions must be fully equipped to reduce patient referrals outside the district. He added that performance would be assessed based on public feedback and measurable improvements in patient care.
The MP assured full support in addressing healthcare requirements and reiterated his role in facilitating coordination between the district administration and the Union Health Ministry.
The meeting also reviewed the functioning of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS), focusing on improving hospital services, patient welfare, and efficient resource utilisation. Key health programmes, including Ayushman Bharat, DNB, DEIC, and NQAS, were also discussed.
An amount of Rs 129.14 lakh was approved from existing District Hospital resources for utilisation under various centrally sponsored schemes.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, Additional Deputy Commissioner Syed Faheem Bihaqi, Chief Planning Officer Shahnawaz Ahmad, Medical Superintendent Dr Faraa Shafi, along with other district officers, doctors, and officials.
