National Conference Working President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Sunday said that neither him nor his party would rest or withdraw its political and ideological stand till the Kashmir Issue is resolved with a political solution that takes into account the political realities and sentiments of the people of J&K.
“I have always maintained that Kashmir needs a political solution and have said this not only on the floor of the Assembly but also in front of a visiting Prime Minister. Let me assure you that we will never ever waver in our stand on the resolution of the Kashmir Issue. We are not like others whose fancy, innovative political slogans have a one-year shelf-life after which they cease to exist for that party”, Omar said while addressing public meetings in Sumblar and Aloosa in Bandipora today.
The NC Working President said that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed used to speak about the Task Force once upon a time and today he has “insulted the dignity and intelligence of the people by not only formally embracing Ashiq Bukhari, a retired SSP and a Task Force specialist but by giving him the status of a ‘senior leader’ in his party.”
“What will Mufti Sayeed have to say about Task Force today after he has so gloriously and brazenly rewarded a Task Force stalwart? PDP’s inherent desire to insult the people of J&K keeps resurfacing every now and then and this party of corruption specialists and turncoats should know that the people of J&K will never compromise on their honor and self-respect. Mufti Mohammad Sayeed might be mistaken into thinking that he can take the self-respect of the people of J&K for granted but come counting day after Assembly Elections he will have his tryst with reality”, Omar said while addressing consecutive public meetings in Bandipora in North Kashmir today.
“It was PDP that opposed the Rehabilitation Proposal for return of youth from across the Line of Control and among those who opposed this proposal is the sitting MLA from Bandipora who has also let down the people of Bandipora in dispensing his basic, minimum services as an elected representative from the area. Today more than three hundred of our youth have returned to their homes and families and did not have to undergo the humiliation of coming back with guns and having had to surrender in army camps”, Omar said.
He said that PDP’s hall of “fame in corruption, as diverse and colorful as it is, should hang Mufti Sayeed’s head in shame – that is if he has ever disagreed with the disagreeable ways of his party leaders.”
“PDP leaders including Mehbooba Mufti keep saying that give us a chance as we have something to offer. What does PDP have to offer? I will tell you what PDP has to offer. They have a rice and rice bag thief to offer to Srinagar, a Task Force Specialist to offer to Kupwara, a urea thief to offer to Rafiabad and a land grabber Member of Parliament and a fake-fertilizers businessman to offer to our historic city that is the center of our culture, history and heritage”, Omar said.
“PDP’s candidate from Bhaderwah for instance is the same person who was prosecuted under the directions of the High Court in the Gulmarg Land Scam. Their leader and MLC from Kishtwar is the same guy who Mufti Sayeed himself sacked as a corrupt bureaucrat who made millions in the Panchayat Ghar Electrification scam and later Mufti Sayeed made the same man an MLC. Their candidates from Devsar and Sumbal were found involved in the Marhama Land Scam in Bijbehara recently. Are these the alternatives PDP has to offer to the people of Jammu and Kashmir? God save this State from these expert thieves and their evil designs to barter every inch, tree and rice-bag in this State for filling their own coffers”, the NC Working President said in Bandipora.
Omar said that the conviction of PDP General Secretary by a CBI court has “stripped PDP and shorn the party of all its rhetorical delusions. “No less than a party’s General Secretary has now become a convict and has most probably been barred from even contesting the coming Assembly Elections. He has been fined more than three crores for his corrupt acts. If you all remember – the same PDP General Secretary used to issue press statements about honesty and good governance. This would have been quite funny for its irony had it not been so tragic and telling an indictment of PDP”, Omar said.
He claimed that National Conference has delivered a historic six-year term of good governance, responsibility and transparency. Omar highlighted the unprecedented work done by National Conference in Bandipora in fields of Irrigation, Water Supply, Education, Higher Education and Road Network and said that the people of Bandipora should elected NC candidate Mohammad Abdullah Wani so that he could do even more for Bandipora.
The public meetings were also addressed by NC General Secretary Haji Ali Mohammad Sagar, NC Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, NC Candidate from Bandipora Mohammad Abdullah Wani and former MLA Bandipora Ghulam Rasool Naaz besides various other party leaders and functionaries. Sagar said that National Conference is committed to upholding the dignity and honor of the people of J&K and would continue standing up for a political solution that would honor the sentiments of the people of the State. Sagar said that National Conference had proven to be a credible and honest political institution that has never abandoned its ideology for political expediency.
