Mufti Muhammad Sayeed became the second Chief Minister after Sheikh Muhamamd Abdullah to address people at Martyrs’ Graveyard located at Naqashbandh Sahab Srinagar.
Hundreds of people mostly the supporters of People’s Democratic Party from Old Srinagar City had arrived at Martyrs Grave Yard to listen from the Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.
Party sources said that the last time any Chief Minister who addressed people there was Sheikh Abdullah before the start of militancy.
On the starting of militancy in Kashmir, not a single Chief Minister addressed people there. “It has become customary for every Chief Minister or any other politician to visit during wee hours amid strict security arrangements to offer floral tributes to the martyrs,” said a politician. (CNS)
