Srinagar

After facing a for month closure triggered by snow, the Mughal Road which connects Kashmir valley with Jammu region as an alternate route through Shopian and Poonch, Rajouri districts has been thrown open for one-way traffic on Saturday.

The historic road connecting Shopian with Pir Panjal region is the shortest fair-weather route to the valley.

Meanwhile, traffic was also resumed on the road, linking dozens of far-flung and remote areas, including those near the Line of Control (LoC), including border town of Gurez, with district headquarters Bandipora after over three months.

The Srinagar-Leh national highway remained closed since December last year through snow clearance operation has been completed.

”We have allowed traffic on the historic Mughal road from Saturday,” a traffic police official told.
