SRINAGAR: Authorities have closed the historic Mughal Road for all sorts of vehicular movement following a landslide on Sunday evening at Mansar Morh along Peer Ki Gali.

An official told news agency that the road has been closed for the vehicular traffic, adding that a clearance process has been initiated to make the road through for movement. “There are vehicles stranded on both sides of the road and once cleared the traffic will be allowed accordingly”, he added.

SHO Surankote JS Sambyal told that men are on work to clear the road on a priority basis. “We expect the road will open for traffic very soon”, the officer said.

It is pertinent to mention here that the thoroughfare was exclusively thrown open to fruit-laden trucks and movement of Gujjar-Bakerwals on Monday last. However on Wednesday (last), Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha asked the administration to extend the relaxations for patients referred from Poonch and Rajouri districts to Srinagar hospitals. (GNS)
