Kashmir’s Shia Muslims commemorated the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of prophet of Islam (SAW)  by organizing special Majlis’s within the Imambaras and specific praying places and mosques. However, the government continued with its policy of not permitting a formal mourning processions in the city. On eighth of Muharam, undeclared curfew was imposed in select areas and main roads were closed that led to a holiday and a chaotic vehicular movement for most of the forenoon. Kashmir Life’s photo-journalist Bilal Bahadur presents some glimpses.
