Engineer Mukhtar Yousuf was elected as President of the apex industrial chamber, Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir (FCIK), chief election Commissioner Syed Shakeel Qalander said.
Qalander announced and declared him elected on Sunday at FCIK house in presence of hundreds of general, executive council members and other entrepreneurs. Javaid Ahmad Bhat has been elected as senior vice president while Masood Ali Wani would be vice president of the organisation,
Er Abid Ali Bazaz, Dr Zain ul Abideen and Manzoor Ahmad Khan were elected as Secretary General, Joint Secretary General and Secretary respectively. Irfan Ahmad Narwaroo would be new Secretary Finance while Abdul Qayoom Bhat has been elected as Secretary Publicity. The election commission members were present on the occasion.
Er. Mukhtar Yousuf is a young and dynamic entrepreneur having a degree of mechanical engineering. As an entrepreneur he is considered to be a pioneer in manufacture of highly technical products like penstocks, log gates and other prestigious mechanical products. He has previously served in the FCIK in various capacities. His enthusiasm to transform the valley into an industrial hub in order to substitute imports has won him the mandate of members from across the valley. He is expected to deliver in the organisation as most of his team members are young technocrats and highly qualified persons.
Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir is the only apex industrial chamber in valley with presidents of industrial estates, districts and lines of activities as its executive council members. The elections of the organisation kick-started last year with documentation of individual entrepreneurs and their recording on web site. The election system was made tough after ascertaining genuine representative character of EC members.
The industrial fraternity has hailed the efforts of the Chief election commissioner and his team for conducting free and fair elections.
