Amid the cold weather, people in thousands took part in the funeral prayers of slain militant Hilal Ahmed Rather killed during a gunfight in Pulwama district of south Kashmir on Tuesday.
Rather was killed on wee hours of Tuesday during a gunfight with mixed contingents of forces in Ratnipora area of Pulwama district.
Reports said that mourners from different areas of the district reached to Ratnipora and multiple funeral prayers were held for the slain militant.
The gunfight at Ratnipora began after government forces launched a cordon and search operation on wee hours of Tuesday. Besides the slain militant, an army soldier was also killed and another sustained injuries.
