Multiple funerals held for Shopian boy killed by a stray shell

Thousands participated in the funeral prayers of ten-year-old slain Musharaf Fayaz of Datmudoor hamlet in Shopian on Thursday.

Reports said that multiple funeral prayers were held to accommodate the huge rush of mourners amid pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans.

Musharaf was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in his native village at Datmudoor.

Musharaf was critically injured on Thursday after a live shell exploded near the encounter site at Chaigund village of district Shopian.

Reports said that people were clearing the debris of a house which gutted following an encounter between the government forces and militants on Wednesday evening.

He was immediately shifted to Pulwama district hospital where from he was referred to SKIMS Soura in serious conditions; however, Musharaf succumbed to injuries on today morning at SKIMS Soura.
