Kashmir’s supermodel Muzamil Ibrahim who has been the youngest ever winner at the Gladrags Manhunt in 2003 is playing a lead role in the forthcoming film ‘Will You Marry Me?’
The star cast includes Shreyas Talpade and Rajeev Khandelwal as Celina Jaitley plays the lead actress. A Srinagar resident, Muzamil has earlier acted for Dhoka. He was studying engineering in Jamia Millia when he participated in the Gladrags Manhunt in 2003. That changed the course of his career.

TAMIL NADU
Two years back, officials in the industrial district of Cuddalore saw an apparently deranged young man wandering around. He was found mentally unfit and send to a mental rehabilitation and psychiatric centre that NGO Oasis runs, by Collector Rajendra Ratnoo. After continued medication, he somehow recovered to a level that he could offer his address. The NGO had to get an interpreter to understand him because he was speaking Urdu and Kashmiri. Once sure that he was correct, his family was contacted. Last week, his brother Nazir A Shah and uncle Mushtaq Ahmad reached the centre and met Farooq. It was an emotional reunion.

DELHI

Supreme Court has allowed the BSF court to go ahead with the trial in Zahid Farooq murder case but barred it from passing any final order. The case is listed next fortnight. BSF officer R K Birdhi and his security guard Lukhvinder Kumar are held responsible for murdering teenager Zahid on February 5, 2010 outside his residence in Brein Nishat. The case is one of the major battles for justice that has underwent various turns and twists. J&K government wants the trial in a civil court and the paramilitary wants the trial to happen in the BSF court.

KARGIL

Perhaps for the first time, the endangered snow leopards turn up in Kargil to get itself recorded on the infra-red camera. The WWF installed three infra-red cameras in Kargil mountains in 2010 but one was apparently stolen by a notoriously shy creature while the two others have clicked 500 shots of the high-altitude beast. In an earlier attempt in 2009, another camera in a different belt of the same region captured snow leopard preying on a heard of Asiatic ibex. Estimates suggest only 4000 to 6500 snow leopards are left in the wild.

SAMBA
Police have arrested three brats who kidnapped a 15-year-old school girl at Tarore near Bari Brahmana in a Safari vehicle and repeatedly gang-raped her in the car. She was abandoned in Sainik Colony area after two days as the police was hunting for her. The tint glassed vehicle was the property of one of the accused, a rich contractor. The accused  Sandeep Singh alias Sunny, Akbar Ali and Amit Singh Jasrotia have been arrested. Jammu is witnessing a surge in painful crimes.

GAZIABAD

The erstwhile Srinagar correspondent of The Indian Express George Joseph died of cardiac arrest in Delhi after an apparently successful surgical procedure. He was 57 and serving as political editor of IANS. A resident of Kerela, he has been a journalist since 1990. It was in Kashmir that he married Asha Khosa and after many years the couple flew to Delhi and were living in Gaziabad. He is survived by daughter, Vitasta Joseph and wife Asha.
