According to officials, the shepherd spotted the fawn while returning home with his goats and, fearing it might fall prey to predators or be hit by vehicles, carried it to his house before contacting the Wildlife Department. A team reached the area shortly after receiving the call and identified the animal as a musk deer that had likely strayed from its natural habitat while foraging.

Officials said the youth’s quick response prevented potential harm to the fawn. The animal has been moved for proper medical examination and care.

The department noted a rise in such incidents in regions located close to forest belts, attributing the trend to wild animals wandering into human habitations in search of food. Locals have been advised not to keep wild animals in their homes and to immediately inform the authorities in case of sightings so that the wildlife can be safely rehabilitated.
