In an interview with Times Now, PM Modi said he wants to ask the educated members of the Muslim community to reflect and consider why, if the country is progressing and they feel their community is lagging behind, that might be.

“Why didn’t you benefit from government schemes during the Congress rule? If you have been victims of predicaments during the Congress rule, introspect and consider,” he said.

He, however, reiterated that religion cannot be the basis for providing reservations as it goes against the Constitution.

PM Modi stated that the poor in the country include Hindus, Christians, and Parsis, and all should receive the benefits of reservations.

“I have never said that Muslims won’t get reservations. All I’m saying is that religion cannot be the basis for providing reservation. The poor in the country include Hindus, Christians, and Parsis; all should receive the benefits of reservations. Dalits and tribals have long faced injustice for thousands of years, and there is a special reason why the framers of our constitution made the right decision, for which we are grateful. No political party opposes this,” the PM said. (KNS)
