SRINAGAR: Demonstrating communal harmony, Muslims in Pulwama’s Pinglana village performed the last rites of Rania Ji, a Kashmiri Pandit woman. With no close family around, her Muslim neighbours arranged a dignified farewell.
The villagers not only shouldered her bier but also arranged the rituals in accordance with Hindu customs. “We considered her one of our own. It was our duty to give her a respectful send-off,” a local resident said.
Rajesh Raina, a relative who traveled from Jammu, expressed gratitude for the villagers’ gesture. “We are deeply thankful to the people of Pinglana. Their love and respect for Rania Ji remind us that humanity and Kashmiriyat are still alive,” he said. (KNT)
