Terming Muzafarnagar riots and subsequent oppression on Muslim community as a blot on Indian democracy, Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) president Er. RashidSaturday said that Hindu extremists have acted like beasts by exterminating, raping, and mutilating the bodies of innocent poor Muslims. “I was shocked to hear horror stories from the Muslims of Muzafar Nagar living like cattle’s in relief camps,” Rashid told CNS adding that media must highlight the plight of Muzafarnagar victims.
“I along with Shiromani Akali Dal chief Simranjit Singh Man met affected Muslim families and what we hear and witness was shocking. The sight exposed the so-called Indian secular set-up,” Rashid said.
He said that it was heartening and painful to hear that innocent Muslim women and girls were raped by Hindu zealots. Muslims were killed and their bodies were mutilated to the extent that they could not be identified.
He said that at least 40,000 people of Muzafarnagar are living a wretched life in relief camps. “Some of them are camping in grave yards. I was told by people that Hindu zealots let loose a reign of terror on September 7 and all of them relied on one slogan, “Ya tum jao Pakistan, Ya phir jao Qabristan” (Either go to Pakistan or face death). People told me that it was a nightmare for them and they are still feeling insecure,” Rashid said adding that Mulayem Singh did nothing to protect Muslims while BJP instigated violence and Congress patronized the goons
